THE D'ENTRECASTEAUX JOURNEY, AN EXCEPTIONAL EXPEDITION In 1791, in the midst of the French Revolution, Antoine Bruny d'Entrecasteaux was tasked with a difficult mission: to find traces of Monsieur de La Pérouse, who had disappeared in the Pacific since 1788, and to bring back breadfruit trees from Friendly Island. Difficult climatic conditions, difficult political conditions, epidemics... this expedition was exceptional from a scientific perspective but tragic from a human perspective.
